God has enough purpose and potential to go around.

Facebook Picture
Proverbs 31 Ministries

"One thing I’ve come to understand about God is He’s got enough purpose and potential to go around. And His purpose isn’t a battlefield for competition; it’s a safe haven of calling.
The secret to doing something confidently (yet humbly) for God?

Be with Jesus.

Humility is the by-product of His presence flowing in our lives.

When we are in His presence, He gives us the confidence to believe we are created to do something great with our lives. His presence whispers assurance over our souls when we feel vulnerable.

And His presence gives us the ability to cheer on that girl next to us, no matter how threatened we feel.

I need Philippians 2:3, to help me remember how much value God places on being humble with the gifts and talents He’s given me. My gifts are not to make myself better than the girl next to me. And because of this verse, I’m reminded to value what she’s doing, even more than what I’m doing.

This is hard to do. It takes guts to release your insecurities to God and confidently be yourself while watching someone else live out your dream. But it’s more than possible. Great favor and blessing flows from being a cheerleader for God’s women.” - Nicki Koziarz

Use your gift in His name.

Proverbs 31 Ministries

“Have you ever wondered if God loves others more because He gave them abilities you wanted? I’m embarrassed to admit it but, at times, I’ve wondered why God didn’t give me talents I’ve admired in others.

And other times I’ve even felt a little mad when someone else was given an opportunity I’d been praying for.

Jesus once told a story about a businessman who was going out of town. He gave his three servants individual projects to work on according to their abilities. Two were given more responsibilities and did a great job, but the third servant, who was given less responsibility, neglected his assignment.

I wonder if the third servant was mad or even jealous of the assignments others had?

One thing I’ve learned is that God doesn’t give me abilities based on how much He loves me. He gives me talents and assignments that fit me best.” - Renee Swope

American Canyon Community Church shared Proverbs 31 Ministries's photo.

What a great way to start the day....

Facebook Picture
Proverbs 31 Ministries

"Respect is frequently lost in our society. In person — and especially online — snark and sarcasm often rule. Talking down to someone or insulting one another is the new norm. For adults and for kids, respect is often nowhere to be found.

No longer does society at large use terms like "sir" and "ma’am" when speaking to a stranger. Addressing elders with terms of esteem is rare as well. And having respect for authority seems to have gone out of style long ago.

Today’s digital world has taken this to a new level with many opportunities to use our words online. It has become commonplace to sling opinions on a screen, whether on social media or while leaving a comment on a blog post. And unfortunately, sometimes these comments and thoughts aren’t tucked in an envelope of respect. They are laced with cynicism, mockery or disdain.

However, today’s key verse talks about respect. And not just respecting those in authority, like a police officer, a judge, the president or governor. It goes so far as to say that we are to respect everyone.

Everyone.

Does this mean the grumpy neighbors who constantly let their dog run around your yard and occasionally use it as an outhouse? Yes.

Does it include your combative relative who never speaks respectfully to you? Yes.

What about the difficult person on that committee with you, whose personality and behavior get on your very last nerve? Yep. That one, too.

We can learn to speak respectfully no matter the situation. By drawing on the power of the Holy Spirit to temper our tongues and help us weigh our words, we can speak in a polite tone. This doesn’t mean we don’t speak the truth. It just means we verbalize it in an honorable way.” - Karen Ehman

The Daniel Plan

Have you ever stopped to think about what food is, why we eat it, and what it does to us when we eat it? The link between food and our well-being is so immediate, so profound and direct, yet most of us have no idea that how we feel is linked to what we eat, that our various complaints and conditions and moods and energy (or lack of it) are driven by the fuel we put into our body.
